Reddit hackers threaten to leak 80GB data stolen in breach

The BlackCat ransomware gang, also known as ALPHV, claims to have stolen 80 GB of Reddit’s data during a breach of the company’s system in February.

The hackers are demanding a ransom amount of $4.5 million and are asking the company to reverse their API price hike if they want to prevent the hacked data from releasing.

The BlackCat gang hasn’t shared what type of data they hold. They did contact Reddit on April 13 and June 16, but the company didn’t respond to their request. Blackcat said, “I told them in my first email that I would wait for their IPO to come along. But this seems like the perfect opportunity! We are very confident that Reddit will not pay any money for their data. We expect to leak the data.”
