Islamabad court approves PTI chief, Bushra Bibi’s bail in nikkah case

ISLAMABAD A court in the federal capital on Monday granted bail to PTI chairman and his wife Bushra Bibi in a case challenging their nikkah as “illegal and un-Islamic”.

Civil Judge Qudratullah approved their bail for Rs30,000 surety bonds each. He has however fixed July 26 to hear arguments on their petition seeking acquittal in the case.

The PTI chief appeared before the court along with his lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat, who also submitted an attorney to represent Bushra Bibi in the case.

The lawyer also filed a plea seeking exemption from appearance from the PTI chief’s wife as he was scheduled to appear before the Islamabad High Court and a police station.

He further said that he was ready to present arguments today if the court admitted the acquittal plea of his clients.

Later, the judge approved the PTI chief and his wife’s bail and directed the lawyer to submit arguments on July 26.
